Knox County Recent Arrest Channels
Knox County keeps no single public screen for arrests. One county page cannot settle every booking question. The Knox County Sheriff's Office website lists no searchable roster, booking feed, photo gallery, or daily arrest list. The records still exist, of course. A name search there simply cannot tell you whether someone was arrested, released, transferred, or booked in a different county. Start with the sheriff, then contact whatever jail the sheriff names as the receiving facility.
Missouri offers several partial channels for recent arrests. The Missouri State Highway Patrol search covers just five days of preliminary MSHP arrests. It leaves out arrests made by other agencies. Local news sometimes republishes agency reports, though selectively. Case.net becomes useful once a case has been filed in court, while MOVANS may show a custody or court-status event when the record sits in its system. Each source answers a different question about a Knox County arrest.
| Window or source | What it covers | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| 24 Hour Arrests | Same-day checking, with the MSHP channel and local fallback | No verified county 24-hour feed |
| Arrest Log | Multi-day reports, local press, and older records | News reports are selective |
| Sheriff contact | Agency record, receiving jail, and custodian routing | No public search or stated refresh time |
Where Knox County Arrests Are Held
Cross-county holding is the local wrinkle. An older Edina Sentinel sheriff report named Clark, Knox, Adair, and Lewis County facilities. They served as booking or holding destinations. A later report described an Edina arrest. It was followed by a hold at the Lewis County Jail. None of that proves where anyone is housed now. It does show why the arresting agency and the jail custodian often differ.
Call the Knox County Sheriff's Office at 660-397-2186 first. Ask whether the person is still being booked. Ask which jail received them. Also ask which agency holds the report and booking photograph. Once a jail is named, use its official contact or roster. Do not assume a Knox County arrest means a Knox County-hosted entry.
One commercial guide lists a "Knox County Jail" at an address in Kahoka. Kahoka sits in Clark County. Knox County's own pages do not confirm that listing as a current jail address. Treat it as a lead, not proof. Confirm by phone before relying on any address, roster, or photo policy.
Note: A transfer can change the custody source while the original arrest report stays with the arresting agency.
Knox Booking Office Contact
Knox County runs its official web system contact-first. The county offices directory names Sheriff Carl K. Knoche and lists the office address, phone, fax, and two email addresses. No request form appears there. Nor are records-office hours, booking-window hours, or online payment listed. Ask about the record directly.

The directory identifies the public office that can route a Knox County arrest-record request.
Knox County Jail Roster Search
Knox County publishes no public jail roster. You cannot search by name, booking number, date, or city anywhere official, and the sheriff posts no stated update schedule. A plain web search will not get you far. The person could still be in booking. He might have been released already, or he could be sitting in a neighboring county's jail after a transfer.
| Search detail | Public Knox County status |
|---|---|
| Name or alias | No verified roster field; give variants to the sheriff |
| Booking number | Ask whether one exists and which jail assigned it |
| Arrest date | Include the best date and time range |
| City and agency | Use both to distinguish local and MSHP records |
| Photo | Ask which agency or jail is the custodian |
Work a fallback chain instead. Ask the sheriff first where the person was taken. Then call the jail that received him, using an official source for the number. A trooper may have made the arrest, so check MSHP as well. MOVANS covers participating custody records, and Case.net shows any filed case. Each step taps a different data set. Does a missing roster entry prove release? No. Knox County has no public roster to begin with. Even a live list can lag booking or drop a name after transfer.
Knox Booking Sources Compared
Official sources belong at the front of every arrest search. A news site or commercial page might name an agency, a date, or a likely jail. Still, it cannot say who is in custody now. It also cannot say how the case ended in court. Aggregator links are left out on purpose. Their copies often run stale, come up short, or mix in another county's arrests.
| Channel | Photo | Status and access |
|---|---|---|
| Knox County Sheriff | Ask custodian | Official local contact; no public roster |
| MSHP reports | Not a county archive | Official five-day MSHP-only channel |
| Case.net | No booking gallery | Official filed-case trail |
| Missouri DOC | Not promised | Official later state custody source |
| Local newspapers | Varies | Secondary, selective reports |
| Commercial indexes | May show old images | Unofficial, uneven, and stale |
Two papers cover arrests in Knox County from different angles. The Edina Sentinel prints sheriff reports and court summaries. The Atlanta Missourian runs a regional index of MSHP-derived arrest items for Knox. Keep one thing clear. Neither paper replaces the Knox County Jail roster.
Statewide commercial arrest sites are hit-or-miss here. Some show no Knox-local page at all, and one merely offers a Knox navigation entry without depth. Treat any listing you find as a lead. Confirm the arrest record with the agency or the court before relying on it.
Knox County Arrests by City
Edina holds the county seat and runs its own documented police agency. Even so, the sheriff covers Knox County arrests county-wide. Knox City and Hurdland publish no online municipal arrest feed. In any of the three towns, ask the sheriff which jail received the arrested person. Also ask which office holds the booking file.
- Edina Recent Arrests: city-police and county-seat records lead to the sheriff, receiving jail, and court trail.
- Knox City Recent Arrests: no separate city feed was located, so county and state channels carry the search.
- Hurdland Recent Arrests: county routing is central, and an investigation must not be confused with an arrest or charge.
The official Knox County home page names Edina as the county seat and gives courthouse context. It also points to the offices that keep local records. It is not a jail roster, though. Nor does it feed arrest updates.
Knox County Arrest Record Fields
An arrest report and a booking file are two different things. Missouri law calls an arrest report a law-enforcement record. It covers arrest, detention, or confinement, plus the charge. The jail that receives a person often builds the rest. It may create the booking number, intake sheet, bond entry, release entry, and photo. Ask for each piece by name.
| Field | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Name and identifiers | The person tied to the record |
| Report number | The arresting agency reference |
| Arrest and booking times | Separate events that may occur in different places |
| Receiving facility | The jail that held the person |
| Charges as booked | Accusations subject to change |
| Bond or release data | Terms shown at that stage |
| Booking photograph | An intake image, if created and releasable |
| Disposition | The court outcome, not a roster field |
- Booking
- Jail intake after an arrest.
- Bond
- Terms for release while a case is pending.
- Arraignment
- A court stage when charges and a plea are addressed.
- Disposition
- The recorded result of a case.
- Expungement
- A legal process that closes qualifying records from ordinary access.
Knox County Mugshots Need Verification
A booking photo raises its own record question. Knox County publishes nothing about whether photos are routinely posted, how long they stay visible, or whether a fee applies. So ask the sheriff directly. Find out whether a releasable image exists and whether another jail holds it. Give the full name, the date, the agency, and any possible receiving facility.
Be careful with photos on nonofficial sites. An image may come from an old arrest, a different county, or a record a court later changed. A news story without a photo says nothing about whether a jail took one.
The public DOC search covers state supervision only. A separate DOC system, LENS, supplies photos to authorized law-enforcement users and stays confidential. The official LENS notice draws that line.
That notice keeps three things distinct. A county booking photo, a DOC image, and a public search result are not the same record.
Request Knox County Arrest Records
A narrow Sunshine Law request works better than asking for a mugshot. Name the person and the event. Separate the arrest report from the booking file. If the person was booked elsewhere, ask the sheriff to name that custodian, and request an electronic copy plus an itemized estimate before duplication.
- Gather the full name, variants, approximate age or birth date, arrest date, city, agency, and any report number.
- Ask for the arrest report, booking sheet, number, receiving facility, bond or release record, and photo if releasable.
- Ask which office holds each item. Contact the receiving jail or MSHP when identified.
- Request segregated public portions and the legal basis for any withheld part.
- Ask for a fee estimate before copies are made and keep the response.
RSMo §610.026 allows up to ten cents per standard paper page. Actual duplication, staff, and research costs can also apply within its terms. Advance payment may be required. Knox County publishes no fixed photo fee.
The MSHP request page covers Patrol incident, investigative, and arrest reports. It only applies when MSHP holds the report. It is not the route for a sheriff booking file.
Missouri Arrest Photo Law
RSMo §610.100 defines arrest and arrest report. The Sunshine Law governs access and lawful closure. Parts may be redacted for an active inquiry, a safety concern, juvenile status, protected data, or another legal ground. Ask the custodian to state the basis in writing.
RSMo §407.1150 bars anyone from charging to remove or correct qualifying criminal-record information or booking photos. It does not force an agency to publish a photo. It also cannot erase every outside copy. Never pay a removal demand. Use a free correction route, attach an expungement order or proof of error, and request a written reply.
Read the statute itself for the anti-pay-to-remove rule. It is not a promise of deletion.
Expungement law is detailed. Petition expungement under §610.140 and procedures under §§610.122 and 610.123 carry strict rules, and §610.141 adds automatic expungement starting August 28, 2026. Check eligibility with the court or a qualified Missouri attorney. After an order, send it to the sheriff, jail, court, MSHP, and any publisher still showing the record. Search-engine stale-result tools come last.
Older Knox County Booking Records
Knox County publishes no annual booking total, so a number would mislead. Web visibility says little about the archive anyway. Missouri sheriff schedule SHF 006 covers arrest logs, files, registers, fingerprints, and booking sheets. It sets a five-year minimum. Records can stay longer for a case, an evidence need, a hold, or an order.
That minimum is not a promised deletion date. A web item may vanish while the agency record survives. The schedule also promises no five-year web archive. Ask whether the record exists. Ask which schedule controls it, whether it moved, and what authority governed any destruction.
Historical Missouri State Penitentiary registers hold prison material from 1836 through 1931. They will not locate a modern Knox County arrest. Keep current searches with the sheriff, jail, MSHP, court, or DOC office. Match each office to the custody stage.
Knox County Warrants and Wanted
Knox County posts no online warrant checker or most-wanted page. That means no public portal to endorse, not that warrants do not exist. A warrant can sit in court or law-enforcement systems with no web display. Old news about a warrant arrest is not a live list.
For a safe check, call the sheriff at 660-397-2186. The Circuit Clerk handles the court-side record at 660-397-2305. Case.net may show a filing. It is not the definitive live warrant system. Anyone who believes a warrant exists should talk with an attorney, the court, or law enforcement. Those offices can explain how to resolve it. Never approach a wanted person or trust a social post. Urgent tips go straight to law enforcement.
Note: A warrant is a legal order, while a news mention is only a report about an event.
Knox Court Outcomes After Booking
Being booked and being prosecuted are two different things in Knox County. The county sits in Missouri's Second Judicial Circuit. Public case files live on Case.net. Look there for a case number, charges, hearing dates, bond entries, pleas, and final judgments. It is not a jail roster. Someone can be arrested and walk out before any case is ever filed. Search by litigant name first, then switch to the case number once one appears. Watch the hearing entries closely. Juvenile, sealed, and confidential matters stay hidden from the public view. The disposition tells you how things ended. It may be dismissed, reduced, pled out, or tried.
Docket questions go to Circuit Clerk Kimberly Hatfield. She is listed in the county directory at 107 N. 4th Street in Edina, 660-397-2305. The prosecutor's office is a separate matter entirely, and it does not hold booking records.
Later State and Federal Custody
State prison is a different stage from county jail. The Missouri DOC Offender Search picks up where a Knox County booking leaves off. It lists people under active prison, probation, or parole supervision, and you can search by name or alias. Discharged individuals drop off. Some data gets withheld for safety or privacy reasons. Updates run nightly, though that schedule has nothing to do with the Knox sheriff's records or MOVANS.
A DOC hit is not a fresh booking. County and state photos are separate files too. Federal custody requires its own tools. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates back to 1982, while ICE runs a locator of its own. A blank Missouri result says nothing about federal custody.
The BOP tool tracks federal custody and offers nothing for Knox County arrest research.
Knox Arrest Custody Stages
Match the source to the custody stage. A person just arrested may still be in transport or intake. Someone booked in Knox County might sit in a neighboring jail. A released person can vanish from a live list. The arrest report stays on file. Sentenced people eventually show up under DOC, and federal detainees belong in an entirely separate locator.
| Status | Best path |
|---|---|
| Just arrested | Sheriff or agency; MSHP only for Patrol arrests |
| Booked and held | Confirm receiving jail and its official source |
| Released or moved | Request booking and release records; try MOVANS |
| Case filed | Case.net and Circuit Clerk |
| State sentence | Missouri DOC search |
| Federal custody | BOP or ICE locator |
For alerts on one specific person, the VINELink Check page explains Missouri MOVANS. An alert is not a safety guarantee, and a blank result does not rule out an arrest.
